India is a predominantly agrarian economy, with 58% of the population engaged in agriculture and allied sectors. The nation is achieving self-sufficiency in food production due to its extensive and booming agricultural sector. However, resource-intensive farming and poor productivity still impact the industry, leading to poverty and malnutrition. Apart from the above mentioned, agriculture is a significant contributor to leaving carbon footprints in the environment.
Indian farmers need education, direction and encouragement to adopt sustainable farming methods that guarantee a higher yield with less input cost. Sow and Reap Agro Pvt. Ltd. is an agritech startup focusing on addressing and resolving farmers’ sustainability, profitability, and resilience concerns.
We proudly announce Project Varri, the first of its kind in India, focusing on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate change, the two most pressing issues in the world today. To achieve this, we are collaborating with TRST01, PJTSAU (Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University) and AgHub to revolutionize water conservation and methane reduction practices in paddy cultivation. A scientist-farmer interaction and training program is our first step towards achieving Carbon neutrality on AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use) credits. Sow and Reap focuses on identifying new and innovative ways to help farmers transform agriculture into climate-positive practices to achieve sustainability. Sow & Reap conducted a training program in Parigi Mandal, Vikarabad, on 30th July 2022 in collaboration with KVKs (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) and scientists of PJTSAU and the state agricultural department to create awareness & provide knowledge about sustainable agriculture practices for the farmers.
